The mobility budget solutions of the transport authorities

In addition to private providers such as NAVIT, Mobiko or belmoto, municipal transport authorities now also offer mobility budget solutions. This can be particularly worthwhile for companies based in the respective transport association areas. We took a look at four transport associations and their mobility budget solutions.

Jelbi - BVG mobility budget for Berlin

Jelbi is known to many Berliners as the super app for mobility in the capital. In addition to BVG public transport tickets and the Deutschlandticket, the app can be used to book almost all forms and providers of mobility available in Berlin. BVG now also offers a mobility budget for employers and employees via the Jelbi app: The Jelbi budget.

Employees who receive a mobility budget from their company can use it in the app for the mobility services on offer. The services available in the Jelbi app include

Public transport: BVG, VBB, Deutschlandticket

Bike sharing: nextbike

E-scooter sharing: TIER, Voi, Lime, Bolt

Car sharing: Miles, SIXTshare

E-moped sharing: emmy,

Ridesharing: Bolt

Taxi service: Taxi Berlin

Employers can use the platform to specify how high the mobility budget should be for each individual employee and which mobility services it should apply to. They can also check, manage and analyse expenditure and mobility behaviour at any time.

hvv M - the mobility budget in Hamburg

With hvv M, the Hamburg Transport Association also has a mobility budget solution for companies. With the mobility budget, companies in Hamburg can provide their employees with a digital budget that can be used individually for commuting or private journeys. Employees have all of Hamburg's mobility options at their disposal: in addition to all hvv offers and the Deutschlandticket, these include the MOIA on-demand service, SIXT share, MILES car sharing and the e-scooters from TIER and Voi.

Employers conclude a contract with S-Bahn Hamburg for the mobility budget offer for their employees. They can determine the budget for their employees individually and also decide whether any remaining budget expires or can be transferred. Employees plan, book and manage their journeys in the hvv switch app. The travel costs are automatically settled with hvv M, the mobility budget, via an interface with the company's accounting system. Settlement takes place with the next payslip. Employees have an overview of expenses and remaining credit in the app.

The MVG mobility budget in Munich

The transport association in the Bavarian capital also offers a mobility budget for companies and their employees: the MVG mobility budget from Münchner Verkehrsgesellschaft (MVG). All means of transport available in the MVGO app can be used by employees within the scope of their budget at the employer's expense. In addition to public transport in the MVV area, this includes various sharing offers. The Deutschlandticket job ticket can also be paid for with this budget. This is handled by MVG.

Employers can individually determine the amount of their employees' mobility budget and the permitted means of transport. They can also determine whether employees can carry the budget over to the next month.

Employees use the MVGO app to book and pay for tickets and sharing services (currently MVG bike, e-scooter); although they pay in advance, they do not have to submit any receipts to their employer as these are sent automatically. The expenses are reimbursed by the employer with the next payslip. Companies receive an overview of the monthly amounts to be reimbursed for all employees from MVG.

The RMV mobility budget of the Rhine-Main Transport Association

The Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund (RMV) is one of the largest transport associations in Germany and covers around two thirds of the area of Hesse. Around 5 million people live in the network area, which includes the greater Frankfurt area. With the RMV mobility budget, the transport association has now created an additional offer to the job ticket for employers. The mobility budget can be booked by companies independently or in addition to the existing job ticket. Employees can use their available mobility budget in the RMV app.

The Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund is cooperating with the mobility budget provider Mobiko from Munich. The RMV mobility budget is also subsidised by the Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport (BMDV) as part of the RMVall-in mobility project.

Bonvoyo - the mobility budget solution from Deutsche Bahn

Deutsche Bahn also has its own mobility budget platform via its subsidiary DB Connect. Companies can provide their employees with an individual, flexible mobility budget via the Bonvoyo app, which can be used primarily for Deutsche Bahn's mobility services.

With Bonvoyo, employers have the option of defining a specific budget within certain user groups. The mobility budget can be used for both private and business mobility. Deutsche Bahn's own offers can be booked directly in the Bonvoyo app with the budget: in addition to bus and rail as well as the Deutschlandticket, these include Call-a-Bike bike sharing and Flinkster car sharing. Journeys can be planned, booked and managed directly in the Bonvoyo app. All other mobility offers such as e-scooters, taxis or other sharing services can be digitally offset against the mobility budget using the receipt scan function via the Bonvoyo app. Employees can view the current credit balance in the app.
